You’ve probably seen them on the streets of Rotterdam; The Imagine Girls Club tote bags with graceful pink letters. And for anyone wondering where they come from, here finally is an article about one of the finest shops in Rotterdam: Imagine by Kim!
Imagine by Kim settled in the little space at the Pannekoekstraat in 2012, next to best friend Wendy with her store Louen. When she and Wendy went to Paris in August that year and she saw some great clothes there, the idea arose; why not open a store as well, but with a totally different concept? And so she started it. In two weeks, Kim resigned at her old job, convinced the bank to give her a finance and filled the shop up with a cool assortment.
That cool assortment can be found in her small, but very nice store. Upon entry, our eye immediately fell on the word ‘Imagine‘ that hangs over the counter in neon lights. It seems to work well for Instagrammers and we totally get that. We definitely took more than one picture of it. ;) Along the walls, there are racks full of beautiful clothes and they have shelves packed with other nice items. Believe us: there’s a lot to see here! And for the men (or to sit down yourself, of course) there is a beautiful pink velvet chair, which we also really wanted to have..
Most of the clothes you’ll find here are items that you’ll not find anywhere else in Rotterdam (or in the rest of the Netherlands). These are mostly pieces from London and Paris. Customers from all over the country know Imagine by Kim and come to Rotterdam to shop for a (festival) outfit. Because they add something new to the collection almost every week and it’s impossible to stop by weekly, Kim decided to open a webshop as well. Whether it’s a dream to eventually open more stores? No. She would like her store to remain personal and she can’t be in six places at the same time. At the store you can always get some personal service, while the webshop is a good way to grow and reach customers worldwide.
At Imagine by Kim you can find fashionable items for a fun and affordable price. No brands, but the latest trends. So every week, something new is added to the collection, and the girls working here like to help you with some personal styling advice. Kim and her team travel to London or Paris almost every week in search of new gems. England is their favorite, because there are many cool and unique items to be found. Paris is also loved, because the finest basics come from this city, like a nice comfi sweater for the winter season.
Kim doesn’t really looks for inspiration, she just goes and takes what she likes herself. And that works! Her sister and colleague travel with her regularly, and when they are all in love with the same piece of clothing, they know that it’s good. Kim’s Instagram is also very popular. It goes fast: when they post a picture of a new item on Instagram, it’s often sold out in half an hour!
As we’ve already written, Wendy of Louen is not only her neighbor but also her best friend. The two stores are very different and therefore complement each other well. They occasionally organize an event together, such as a basement sale, and many customers walk back and forth between the two stores.
What can we say? Don’t skip the Pannekoekstraat in your search for a nice outfit!
